LIVINGarrangements 2011
spring‘s curator Anna Cosentino has invited world class photographers for their interpretation of ‘living arrangements’, with no set assignment or medium in mind. LIVINGarrangements poses an open question for who people are (or think they are) in our society and how they live in the present. The term opens discussion to political innuendo, cultural differences, social issues, and importantly, design and style.

spring invited gallerist Debra Klomp Ching of KLOMPCHING gallery to be the guest judge on an open call for photographic interpretations of ‘living arrangements’. The second in a series of interdisciplinary exhibitions showcasing professional as well as up and coming talent in photography, intended as an open platform to submit images to build a visual profile of ideas in living.

“Curating the Living Arrangements exhibition was—to be completely honest—refreshing and fun. The theme was broad and the Spring team provided a wonderfully free reign regarding the selections. I was looking for artworks that would fit into the physical and aesthetic context of the Design Gallery and Retail space itself. Of course, I was looking for a range of interpretations of the theme, as demonstrated by the artists. Finally, I wanted to select artworks that could be hung on the wall of different living spaces themselves, whether that be in homes of commercial/office spaces—especially as single artworks. Each of the photographs selected, meet what I was looking for in one way or another.“
